| Description |
Beautiful book about Eastern European embroidery from folk costumes.
The book features embroideries from ethnic dress of the Slavic countries. There are
44 designs in all - 31 from Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia & Czech
Rep.) and 13 from Yugoslavia (Croatia, Serbia, & Dalmatia). The
Czech/Slovak regions include Kyjov, Kreis Brno, Hana, Borsice,
Polesovice, Rybany, Hluk, Hradcovice, Drslavec, Kunovice, Vlcnov,
Nivice, Slavkov, Korytna, Lopenik, Piestany, Bosaca, and Soporna.
Most of the regions include photos of the embroidery and also a
pattern showing show to recreate it. Some just have the color
photos. All of the embroideries are described and the book includes
about 15 pages of general history and technique. The photos are
primarily in color, some are black/white, and the book is very
nicely presented. A great addition to your folk embroidery and
costume collection. Please note there is a hard crease through the
middle of the front cover so it is not in new condition. |
